The TECS Commercial Administrator Janna will participate in The Comrades Marathon in South Africa this Sunday 11th June.
The 2023 Comrades Marathon will be the 96th running of the race. The Comrades Marathon is an ultramarathon of approximately 90 kilometres or about 56 miles which is run annually in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. The race will start in Durban and finish in Pietermaritzburg. It is the world's largest and oldest ultramarathon race.
The Comrades Marathon is one of the world's oldest and most prestigious ultramarathons. It is a gruelling race that attracts runners from all over the world. The race is run on a point-to-point course, and the runners must climb over 1,300 meters (4,200 feet) in elevation.
The 2023 Comrades Marathon will be a down run, which means the runners will be running downhill from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. This is the preferred direction for most runners, as it is obviously easier to run downhill than uphill.
The race is expected to attract over 20,000 runners. The field will be made up of a mix of elite athletes and recreational runners.
